James joined Pangolin Associates in 2020 as a Carbon and Energy Consultant with experience across both public and private sectors. He is also a registered consultant for Climate Active certification. Prior to Pangolin, James worked with the resource management company, Veolia (Australian and New Zealand). His ability to think strategically and lead teams were key in advancing low emissions projects and driving change within Veolia’s business.
James has expertise with a range of corporate sustainability reporting systems. He prepared National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) and Climate Solutions Fund-Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) submissions for Veolia. He was responsible for coordinating the data with Veolia’s Head Office in Paris for the company’s annual global integrated reporting.
James has also worked for the NSW Government where he achieved improvements in water, waste and energy efficiency for Sydney Olympic Park facilities. Additionally he contributed to precinct level environmental strategies. His skills in data analytics and ability to understand complex systems were integral in identifying trends and optimising performance of central building services.
James has a track record for promoting meaningful action on climate change, biodiversity loss in the built environment, and for finding effective, customised solutions. He enjoys providing his clients with evidence-based strategic insights and modelling scenarios to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and encourage restorative environmental practices.
James’ qualifications include a Master’s of Sustainability from the University of Sydney. He also completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Policy and Management, and a Bachelor’s of Science majoring in Ecology and Genetics from the University of Adelaide. He is passionate about applying sustainability principles broadly and in both a professional and personal context to achieve meaningful improvements in environmental outcomes.
