Julia is an environmental engineer and a Senior Consultant on the technical team at Pangolin Associates. She assists Pangolin’s clients with compliance obligations such as NGER, and voluntary carbon reduction measures including carbon neutrality and Climate Active certifications.
Julia has a comprehensive understanding of Australia’s Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF). Before joining Pangolin she worked in the carbon division of Woodside Energy in Western Australia. Her work involved ERF project feasibility, development, and execution for the generation of ACCUs.
Julia’s experience extends to climate change advisory, operational energy efficiency, emissions forecasting for long-term emissions targets, and environmental risk management. Her skills include FullCAM and SavBAT carbon accounting models and preparing submissions for global benchmarking tools such as the CDP and the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
Julia has experience working closely with federal and state governments, landholders, the forestry industry, carbon developers, and Indigenous groups. She has a deep respect for Indigenous culture, spirituality and connection to country. In 2019, she was seconded to the Kimberley Land Council where she worked with Traditional Owners on projects involving Indigenous fire management and a Kimberley carbon strategy.
Julia holds a Masters of Engineering and a Bachelor of Environments (Environmental Engineer) degrees from the University of Melbourne. She also completed an exchange at Aalborg University in Denmark. Her thesis was on a Fully Renewable Energy Oxygen System: an assessment of the viability of a novel means of producing medical grade oxygen without electricity. In 2019 Julia participated in Homeward Bound: a global leadership initiative for women in STEM which culminated in the largest all-women voyage to Antarctica.
Julia believes that a more sustainable future is possible and that organisations of all sizes have an important role to play in taking the essential action needed to preserve our Earth home. She enjoys time in the outdoors, yoga, and meditation for which she teaches classes and conducts retreats in Perth and the southwest.
