Maria is a Carbon and Energy Consultant based in Pangolin Associates’ Melbourne office. She works with clients on data collection and the generation of GHG Assessments (carbon footprints). Maria also helps clients with Pangolin’s Embodied Carbon Services: with expertise in eTool she provides life cycle assessments (LCAs) for the built environment.
Maria’s experience extends to the carbon sequestration industry. Prior to joining Pangolin Associates she held an internship at Earth Systems where she worked on biochar generation. In this role she explored new waste products to optimise the production of biochar.
Maria also has experience in the pharmaceutical industry. She led a research project in Sun Pharma’s manufacturing plant which focussed on optimising processes. Her contribution included implementing a design technique for industrial equipment, improving computer models, managing risk assessment, and the safe handling of hazardous materials.
Maria holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Philosophy from Monash University. She became a founding member of Monash Fuels from Waste, an initiative to convert organic waste into biodiesel.
In 2019 Maria’s interest in sustainability took her to Iceland for the Green Program where she studied renewable energy sources in the country. In 2018 she volunteered with Engineers Without Borders. She was based in a rural community in Malaysia where she learned and practiced human-centred design (HCD).
