Sam is an environment, energy and carbon services consultant with extensive greenhouse gas emissions and energy assurance and advisory experience across a wide range of industries. He is Pangolin Associates’ expert in carbon origination establishment projects, such as the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI).
As a Registered Chartered Chemical Engineer (CEng, MIChemE) and Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng, MIEAust), his areas of expertise include greenhouse and energy audits and assurance engagements under Australia’s NGER, CFI, Climate Active schemes, and the international CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project). Sam conducts energy audits and undertakes environmental risk reviews under EPA Regulations and environmental license-to-operate.
Sam is the lead author for one the world’s first Improved Forest Management-Logged to Protected Forests (IFM-LtPF) Methodology under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS). He is author for several scientific journal papers and reviews on VCS methodologies, Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standard (CCBS) project design descriptions.
Sam holds a PhD in Biochemical Engineering. He also holds a Master’s Degree awarded with Distinction in Professional Engineering Leadership, a Graduate Certificate in Sciences and Technology Commercialisation majoring in Operations Management, an Honours Degree in Chemical Engineering, and a Diploma in Chemical Process Technology majoring in petroleum derivatives.
Sam is the first verifier in Australia that has successfully taken airports through the internationally recognised Airport Carbon Accreditation program. He is also a Registered Greenhouse and Energy Auditor (Category 1 and Category 2) with the Clean Energy Regulator, a registered consultant for Climate Active Certification, and listed on Australia’s National Engineering Register (NER).
